i already have enough money for either a tunic or trousers.

Don't forget it may be cheaper to buy them both together. Militaria net do sets for £95.

As far as a grenade bag goes, theres a bread bag (not the RIGHT thing, i know :P) that looks quite nice, was thinking about going for that

A breadbag is a key piece of kit, every soldier was issued one so would be a better choice than the grenade bags anyway. Plus they're very useful for carrying kit.

Put simply my recommendation for what to get first would always be the following;
1.Tunic & Trousers- M36 or M40
2.Headgear- M43 the cheapest/most practical. Helmets are iconic but can be pricey.
3.Basic webbing- Belt, buckle, Y-straps, breadbag and pouches for whatever weapon you have. What do you intend to use btw? This can be added to later
4.Footwear- Gaiters if using modern boots or cheap Jackboots (you can get east german ones for £10).

well my entire German idea has been shot down in flames, what with 2 grandparents who fought in WW2, it might p*ss them off to be honest, and i dont really want to upset them and drag up memories they may want to be left alone

BUT on a more positive note, thank you to all the support and ideas that have been given to me. It Really has been appreciated and i know it may seem to be 'throwing it all back in your face' by going back to allied, but i think it may be the best to not upset family relations

thanks for all help and support guys :good: :good: :good: :good: :good: :good: :good:
